Connections
Words keep beating quickly
In my brain
Disconnected:
Out of frame.
I see the crooked picture on the wall
And wonder why the building doesn’t fall
Downtown
Amidst the metal and the glass
Are women’s furs and diamonds
Connotating class
The asked me if I’d seen her fur
Of course I knew they meant her coat:
Still, every time I saw her, she was fully clothed
Back to the beginning
A baby’s sluggish crawling
Words keep coming
Words keep going
My mind is always stalling
Words keep beating in my brain
Disconnected, out of frame.
