Jack
the down-boy
died last week
(or was it two weeks ago?)

from nose poisoning.

No not nose candy
or sticking it where it didn’t belong,

but he died in praise of the beautiful sun
and gorgeous days

the sun, it seems, got under his skin
right at the bridge of his schnoz

and ungrateful for his gratitude
made it impossible for him to blow

and carried him away to a place
where the only trumpeting
is from the angels.
