The Trick

Maybe this is the magicians trick

With sleight of hand

And word of word

He pushes out the circle

Stretches it

Makes it difficult

To find the way around.

Why now, when the cycle

Seemed so smooth

Ease of arc so gentle?

His trick, with great finesse

Would have failed without surprise.

Surprised indeed

A now too weary traveler 

Has left the cycle

And peers over

From the edge.
